Okay Snow Lovers, we’re going to have to buckle down on our positive thinking because we now have the cold air in place for a while to make snow, and Lord knows we had the moisture yesterday as more than an inch of RAIN fell in many place before the cold filtered in.  With a little better timing gracious we could have had some real snow on the ground right now.  As it is we’re seeing from 1-3” of snow across the High Country as of 7am this morning.  Here at my home it looks like a wind blown 1”.  Ski Beech is reporting in with 3”.  We’ll post more readings as we get them.

More snow is falling (although very light as of this report) and we’ll cover the forecast in a moment.

We are WAY below normal, temperature-wise for today, which is unusual and good to be able to say the way that this winter has gone.  The normals for today are 44° for a high temp and 22° for the low.  Today we will be some 17° below that for the high!

The records for this date in weather history are:

63° for a high in 1991
minus 13° for a low in 1996
4.5” of snow fell in 1995

Now to the forecast details:

At this time some models are saying that we should expect only another 1” of snow by noon and then partly cloudy skies for a bit and then another burst of snow showers this evening with no real additional accumulation.  Other models are forecasted 2-4” of snow today with periods of sun.  That pretty much tells us not to expect much in the way of additional snow, but we’ll see.  Unfortunately we didn’t get the more significant up-side of the forecasts from yesterday that said to expect 2-7”

Today: Snow showers likely, mainly before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 29. Breezy, with a west wind around 25 mph, with gusts as high as 38 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Breezy, with a west wind between 21 and 23 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Monday: Partly cloudy, with a high near 36. West wind between 17 and 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.  Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low near 19. Northwest wind between 15 and 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.

Tuesday: Partly cloudy, with a high around 40. Northwest wind between 7 and 13 mph.  Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 20.
